“How Mirka Got Her Sword,” page 45
I have to thank my friend Bean, who knitted and knitted while I snapped about a hundred photos of her hands.

Those pictures were so worth it! You articulated the motion and details of the hands quite skillfully and realistically. In addition to that, Mirka’s face is quite expressive!
This did justice to the complexity of hands, which I would judge to be the hardest body part to draw.

“So engrossed in her knitting was Mirka, that she didn’t notice that the troll had stopped, and was now eating her legs.”

Thanks, Meredia (and everyone else). For me, I find feet harder to draw than hands.
Daran, LOL!

I followed a link from Dylan Meconis’ block, and read the comic in one go today. It’s great.
I’d never thought that knitting could be so thrilling. ;-)

And she is knitting Anglo-American style!
The illustrations are so clear, you could almost learn how to do a stitch from these :) I love the swirling flow of the hands/yarn through this page.

Thanks, Hans. It was nice of Dylan to link me. (If anyone’s not reading Dylan’s comic, you really should be.)
Thanks, Reetta. And yes, she’s knitting ango-american style — which, by an amazing coincidence, is the style my model knits in!
