She blended in with the trees.

I kind of thought she was one of the trees...until she was ready to come out and talk to Mirka.

Hey, I recognize that first pose! Wasn't that a dead-tree sketch a while ago?

Yeah, she does look like Steve Carrell there. I noticed the same thing myself when I drew it. Her face is actually hard for me to get right!

Miriam, I was hoping someone would notice. :-)

Falstaff, thanks so much!

And everyone, thanks so much! I really do read all the comments, even when I don't reply.

I can't say exactly how but the trees seem to foreshadow the woman - something in their shape. It's clever and shivery.

Sometimes Mirka looks a TINY bit like Steve Carrell (in the middle line!). And I love how she's wearing the sweater.

....whoa, it worked!

Now I'm starting to wonder what was up with the interface, and how long I've been able to comment again! Oh, well. I'm glad that one made it through!

I have learned one of two things while reading this comic.

Either (a) I know nothing about how comics are plotted (this cannot be fully discounted) or,
(b) Barry is just kind of brilliant and he has to live with it.

Hereville has defied my expectations and surprised me at every turn, and I think that's great. I am seriously impressed, and I'm so glad about the publication news and the word of sequels.

I haven't commented here in a long time -- for some reason, the interface just wouldn't let me post my comments; I'd just get a blank screen after I clicked "submit." But I feel strongly enough about this one that I'm going to try anyway, even though I really don't think this is going to work. Good stuff, Barry. Congratulations.
