Here’s a background I just drew, to a couple of panels on page 57 of the graphic novel.

    The rendering of the water and reflections is elegant.

    Pretty! The horizontal shading on the water reminds me of Tezuka and/or McCloud.

    Thanks to you both!

    Although I just read Phoenix volume four and was entirely blown away by it, I’m pretty sure the horizontal lines came from McCloud — I was a big Zot! fan once upon a time (and still am).
